Maria Trias

Maria Trias is a Graduate Assistant with the Mulvaney Center for Community, Awareness, and Social Action at the University of San Diego (USD), where she supports student access to the wisdom of the community through course-based service-learning. Maria is a native Spanish speaker and moved from Barcelona to San Diego in 2010. In Barcelona, she was committed to promoting social inclusion and social justice by engaging professionally in a nonprofit called Casal dels Infants, where she served as a Communication and Social Diffusion Department Manager for 5 years.

Maria has a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and a Master’s in Communication from the University Pompeu Fabra in Spain. She is currently working toward her Doctoral degree in Leadership Studies, after having been involved in the Master’s in Nonprofit Management and Leadership at USD for a year. Through the learning Maria has been exposed to this past year and a half at USD and by participating in different workshops, her interests have evolved and she is now looking forward to continuing her impact in the community by helping enhance other's leadership skills through dialogue, facilitation, coaching, and experiential learning. Maria is very excited to see her passions come together through her work at the Mulvaney Center, which include: learning, the power of community, social justice, and adult development through the exercise of leadership. In her spare time Maria enjoys the outdoors, yoga, reading, and spending quality time with friends and family.
