  Authorized additional Border Patrol agents;  expanded definition of aggravated felony, basis for removal; increased penalties for document fraud and smuggling.

Immigration Act, 1990 (P.L. 101-649; 104 Stat. 4978)

  Revised numerical limits and immigration preference system.

Immigration Reform and Control Act, 1986 (P.L. 99-603; 100 Stat. 3359)
  Imposed employer sanctions; amnesty extended to many undocumented immigrants in the U.S.

Immigration and Nationality Act Amendments, 1965 (P.L. 89-236; 79 Stat. 911)
  Repealed national origins quota system; immigration based instead on family reunification and needed skills.
