Patron Suggestion
November 10, 2004
There are 4 copies of Admin Law Nutshell on Reserve. 1 is available for overnight but in order to take it out overnight, you have to be here 1 hr before the library closes. It’s ridiculous to have books that students need for more than 1 night w/ these restrictions. It would seem @ least 1 of these copies could be available for regular check out.
LRC Response

The idea of having certain materials, such as Nutshells, hornbooks, citation manuals, court rules, etc., on Reserve is to allow the greatest number of patrons to use them by limiting the time that any individual can keep the item. The overnight reserve helps those students who can’t get to the library earlier because they have outside jobs and/or go to classes in the evening to get an equal opportunity to use the item. Because of the summary nature of the content of Nutshells, this type of access has worked well for the majority of patrons. In the few instances where patrons desire longer access to the Nutshells, the library keeps a copy of the previous edition in the Reading Room. Students can check out the Reading Room copy for two weeks.
