From Orly Airport To The Office At 9 Rue Malher, 4e:
Cab is likely to be about $45 (always remember to add a 15% tip, more if the ride is short). If you call for a cab to pick you up, the meter starts immediately when you call, not when they pick you up, as in the States. There is a maximum limit of 3 persons per cab. No exceptions.
Take the airport bus to INVALIDES, for about $10, then take a cab from there, for perhaps another $15, to our office.
More complicated would be to take the free shuttle bus to the train station, where the RER goes into Paris; decend at the Gare d'Austerlitz, then take either a cab or metro to the office. A cab would be perhaps $8. (Remember: trains and metros mean stairs. This means you must carry your luggage up and down, even if it has wheels or a luggage carrier). For the metro, follow the large "M". Look for a sign that says, "billets" ("tickets"). Buy a "carnet deuxiem" (10 tickets, 2nd class) for about $10. Look for signs that say, "Direction: Pantin", then put one ticket in the machine and save it when it comes out. Take the metro TWO stops to Bastille. Follow the orange signs that say, "Correspondance: Neuilly". Go ONE stop to St. Paul. Up TWO flights of steps. Cross the busy street straight ahead. Turn right and go a short block to Rue Malher, then turn left onto Rue Malher and we are about 1/2 block down on the left at number 9.
You are not looking for a campus, but for an office building. There is a gold plate at the entrance on the outside the building that identifies that building as the University of Paris I. There is usually some type of bulletin board as you enter, telling you which floor you will need to go to check-in. Be advised that the elevator is very small and can hold only 1-2 persons with luggage snugly. You can always send one person up with everyone's luggage and everyone else can go up (but only about 3-4 people snugly) when it comes back down again.
Cheapest of all, is the 215 bus to Denfert-Rochereau. Then spend another metro ticket to enter the metro. Follow the signs, "Direction: Porte de Clignancourt". Change at Chatelet, 10 metro stops. Then follow the signs for, Correspondance: Vincennes". Go two stops down. Exit at St. Paul. Take the escalator or stairs up to the street and cross the busy street straight ahead (rue de Rivoli). Turn right and go a short block to Rue Malher, then turn left onto Rue Malher and we are about 1/2 block down on the left at number 9.
