Before withdrawing from a program, students who have requested loans to finance a program should ask their financial aid office what the financial consequence of withdrawal will be.
USD can process a withdrawal from the Institute only after receiving a written notification. Neither the initial non-refundable $200 registration fee or the $50 housing deposit is refundable; other refunds depend on the timing of the withdrawal notice. If a student provides notice:
- On or before April 9: USD will refund all monies you have paid USD except the $200 registration fee and any housing deposit.
- April 10 - June 27: Full refund of all monies paid USD except the non-refundable $200 fee and $150 for each law course selected, any tutorial surcharge and housing deposit.
- June 28-29: Refund of 90% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
- June 30-July 1: Refund of 80% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
- July 2-4: Refund of 70% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
- July 5-6: Refund of 60% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
- July 7-8: Refund of 50% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
- July 9-10: Refund of 40% of the difference between tuition paid and the sum of the non-refundable $200 fee, any tutorial surcharge, and $150 for each law course selected; there is no refund of housing costs.
There are no refunds for students who withdraw after July 10.
There are no refunds for students who withdraw from a class but remain in the program.
All refunds will be sent by USD check to the appropiate person, which might be the lender, the student, or the student's school.
For a student attending two USD programs, there is a separate refund computation for each program from which the student withdraws.
If you are academically disqualified from returning to your law school and you withdraw from the program, USD will provide a full refund for tuition paid. The housing refund is as set forth above.
There is no refund if you withdraw from a Tutorial after April 9th.
