These students should contact Ms Cindy King, cking@sandiego.edu regarding any refund procedures)

USD can process a withdrawal from the Institute only after receiving a written notification. The non-refundable $200 registration fee and the language class fee is not returned; other refunds are dependant on the timeliness of notice.

If a student provides notice:

  • Before April 11, 2008: USD will refund all monies you have paid except the $200 registration fee and language class fee.
  • April 12 - May 25, 2008: Full refund of any program fees paid after the non-refundable $200 fee and minus $100 for each law course in which enrolled.
  • May 26-27, 2008: Refund of 90% of fees paid after deducting the non-refundable $200 fee and $100 for each law course in which enrolled.
  • May 28-29, 2008: Refund of 80% of fees paid after deducting the non-refundable $200 fee, language class fee and $100 for each law course in which enrolled.
  • After May 29th the refund amount continues to drop. To class day 5 = 70% of fees paid after deducting the non-refundable $200 fee, language class fee and $100 for each law course in which enrolled;

  • To class days 6 or 7= 60% of fees paid after the non-refundable $200 fee, language class fee and $100 for each law course in which enrolled;

  • To class day 8= 50% of fees paid after deducting the non-refundable $200 fee, language class fee, and $100 for each law course in which enrolled;

  • To class day 9 = 40% of fees paid after deducting the non-refundable $200 fee, language class fee and $100 for each law course in which enrolled.

  • No refunds after class day 9.

    There is no refund if you withdraw from a language class once you are in Barcelona.

  • There is no refund if you withdraw from the Clinic after Friday, April 1st.
  • There is no refund when a student withdraws from a law class but remains in the program.

    However, you may withdraw from a Clinic and choose law classes instead and all monies paid towards the Clinic will be put towards the law classes chosen. However, you will be charged a course change fee of $50 per law class added.

    All refund monies paid will either be sent back to you, your school or your credit card (depending on how your account was paid). There is no refund of any convenience fees charged by using a credit card when making any of your payments to USD.

    If you are attending two USD programs, there is a separate refund computation for each program from which you withdraw. Please read your second sessions refund policy to determine your refund.

    If you are refused admission by the Institute only, then all total amounts paid will be refunded.

    To ALL individuals: Please be aware that there is no refund of any monies paid to USD for any amounts paid for tuition, housing, language classes, Russia Visa fee money order, Tutorial surcharge and/or the St Petersburg trip, if you cannot obtain a Visa to attend your selected program(s) after you have enrolled and paid your fees to USD.

    If you are a non-U.S. citizen, it is your responsibility to find out what ALL the requirements are to obtain your Visa before you sign up for any of our programs. You would then start the Application Process and provided all necessary documentation/paperwork to enroll you, pay the required amounts due to be enrolled by USD, and then e-mail Ms Cindy King, cking@sandiego.edu what the Visa requirements are for you. Ms King will prepare or have prepared, the necessary documentation for your Visa from USD. If you wait until the last minute (30 days before the start of your program), USD would not be able to help you. You would then have to pay an outside company - not USD, the appropriate fees required to start your Visa process to obtain your Visa.

    ACADEMIC DISQUALIFICATION:

    If you are academically disqualified from returning to law school and you leave the Barcelona program, a full refund for tuition only that was paid, would be refunded back. If you already secured your housing in Barcelona, you would need to contact your landlord/realtor directly regarding any type of refund.

    If you are academically disqualified from returning to law school and you leave the Barcelona program, and you were enrolled in a second session program in either Dublin or Oxford and paid USD a $50 housing deposit, then you would receive a refund of all tuition and housing monies paid except for the $50 housing deposit. However, the housing refund may not take place until September or October when we will be notified at that time by the Dublin or Oxford College whether we will be billed for your housing or not. If you did not choose housing through USD, then the full tuition amount paid, would be refunded back to you, your school or your credit card. If you secured housing in Dublin or Oxford, on your own and not through USD, you would need to contact your landlord/realtor directly regarding any type of refund.

    If you are academically disqualified from returning to law school and you leave the Barcelona program, and you enrolled in a second session program, London or Paris, then the full tuition amount paid, would be refunded back.

    If you secured housing in London or Paris, you would need to contact your landlord/realtor directly regarding any type of refund.

    All refund amounts paid, would be refunded back to either you, your school or to your credit card.

    ------------------------

    If a check is returned to USD due to insufficient funds, any resulting fee is added to the student's program cost.

    USD puts returned checks back through two (2) times before the Study Abroad office is notified of a bad check. USD will not resubmit this check after 2 tries. Re-payment must arrive at our office within 2 business days by either a U.S. Money Order, U.S. Cashier's (bank) Check, or payment may be made via credit card only for all amounts due.
