University of Barcelona School of law, where classes are held.
[FYI: There are 20 schools under the heading of University of Barcelona. Please be sure you double check the address of any "Univ of Barcelona" schools you come across. Our classes are held at the University of Barcelona at Av Diagonal 684, between the Palau Reial & Maria Cristina Metro stops on the Metro Green Line #3. (L3)]
Classes and offices are at the building of the Aula Tomas y Valiente Law Faculty of the University of Barcelona, Av. Diagonal 684, 08034 Barcelona, in the Pedralbes and Les Corts district (Metro: Palau Reial or Maria Cristina). Direct underground service from the Placa de Catalunya takes about 20 minutes.
Finding Housing in Barcelona
Students may live wherever they choose in Barcelona. We suggest that because you are only there for a short time, it is best to live either within easy commute by metro or bus from school. Living further away may save on rent, but it will both increase your commuting expense and take valuable time that you would rather spend on other things.
The University of Barcelona Faculty of Law is located on the Avenida Diagonal in the Pedralbes district, a rather upscale area with high-rise buildings that many students find both too sedate and too expensive. It is located on the #4 metro line (usually marked in green) between metro stops Maria Cristina and Palau Reial. Many students like to live in the Barcelonetta area near the beach, or in the central part of tourist Barcelona on both sides of Las Ramblas.
The predominant form of housing chosen in Barcelona is either the Apart-Hotel, the rented apartment, or living with a family.
The Apart-Hotel is a building containing small apartments, from studios to 2-bedrooms, that is designed for short-term rentals. They vary from being quite dorm-like and often serving communal dinners, to those that are designed for businesspeople in Barcelona on the company tab.
Rental apartments may be less expensive than most Apart-Hotels, but may be more difficult to locate.
Likewise, arrangements with families can be hard to make over the internet.
Also, be aware that most landlords will require that you send them a deposit to hold your rental, via wire transfer in Euro dollars (Wire Transfers charges apply both on your end and the other end or an International Money Order in Euro dollars. You may end up paying for any fees involved. Negotiate these fees with the landlord or rental agent at the very beginning). Sometimes, deposits can be as much as your actual rent. Under no circumstances should you arrive in Barcelona from the U.S. without a reservation for the night of your arrival.
For that reason, we have made arrangements with a real estate person in Barcelona who can help you find whatever type of housing you might like. If you check the box on the application, we will communicate your name and e-mail address to the real estate person, who will contact you directly.
Here are some tips on finding housing that students from prior Institutes have provided:
Hostels and Hotels
Please stay away from rentperdaysbarcelona when you are looking for places to stay. (4 students who stayed at one of their places reported that they were robbed and that someone had a key to get in, as there was no sign of forced entry. Also this company/landlord would not provide any resolution to repayment of stolen items. There was also an attempted break-in but the student was home at the time and scared them off.)
For prices below, you will need to add 7% VAT tax to the price. Prices below are subject to change without notice at any time. "Ensuite" means your room has both a toilet and a shower in it.
Please be aware that if you decide to live in the Las Rambles area or down by the Waterfront area, it is about a 30 minute bus/metro ride to classes.

Oh Barcelona Apartments Information
Here is what a former Barcelona student, Duke Kang dukekang@yahoo.com, had to say re Oh Barcelona:
The agency I dealt with - Open House Barcelona (Oh Barcelona), was very prompt in their responses to questions and e-mails. I did have a couple smaller complaints about my dealings with them. First, they would not hold, for any length of time, the unit that I wanted. In fact, between the time of my last e-mail from them and the time it took to wire a deposit (48 hours), they booked the unit to someone else. Fortunately they had another unit which ended up being a better deal. Nevertheless, I thought it odd, giving away a unit for which I was sending a deposit. Also, once they receive the deposit and their fees, I dealt directly with the owner of the property who wanted the entire rent in cash, so I had to carry a couple of thousand US dollars for a few days of travelling.
The owner and her husband were very nice, though. They even bought us a new fan and brought it over the same day when they noticed it was getting warm. Also, there was no problem getting our deposit back. The owner came when I said it would be convenient and gave me the whole deposit in cash before we had even cleaned.
The apartment unit itself was nice and clean, though in a rough neighborhood. Even the neighborhood, my roommates (girls and guys) and I got used to it and even liked it by the end of our stay.
There was no elevator in the building where we were on the second floor and the roof for drying clothes was four floors up.
Even though our immediate neighborhood was rough, the location was prime for convenience. We were less than five minutes to the Metro, less than five minutes to many bars, restaurants and Las Ramblas, and 20 minute's walk to the beach. It takes thirty minutes to get to class from the apartment.
-----------------------------------
Or contact Mr Jesus Zaragoza @ jesus@swamicentral.com who may have an apartment with 3 bedrooms of which 2 have terraces. It is a 3 min walk to the beach, with views of the beach and the mountains. Public transportation (bus or train) is 3 minutes away and it takes about 20 minutes to get to the Playa de Catalunya and is probably about 30 minutes or so away from school. Please contact him directly for further information on prices, deposits, directions and the actual address.

Half of their flats have Internet access (in every room). They can reserve flats for women who wish to live only with other women. The majority of their flats are co-ed.
For an individual room, the rate ranges from 320 € up to 585 € a month depending on the flat, the room and the location of the flat.
For a double (1 bed for 2 people) or twin room ( 2 single beds in one room), the rates vary between 555 € and 680 € a month depending on the flat, the room and the location of the flat.
When students confirm their booking on-line by credit card, they pay the first's month rent, the deposit and the registration fee. If they wish to pay by wire transfer, they will have to pay the entire stay up front (2 months' stay that corresponds to the length of the summer program, the deposit and registration fee).
Students sign a lease (english version) upon check-in at their office and collect their apartment keys.
They communicate with students via e-mail. However, students can call them at their office during office hours only. (remember that Barcelona is 9 hours ahead of California)
