Judge Hawkins teaches intellectual property law.
Professional Experience
Hawkins serves as a senior judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Special Court Martial Military Judge from 1970 to 1973. In 1977, Judge Hawkins joined the U.S. Attorney's Office when he was nominated by President Jimmy Carter to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona (1977-80). Judge Hawkins also served as a Special Prosecutor for the Navajo Nation from 1985 to 1989. He was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit by President Clinton in 1994.
