Professor Saura teaches European Union law.
Professional Experience
Saura has taught at the University of Barcelona since 1990 and has served as an accredited International Observer in South Africa, Palestine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Togo, Peru, and Guatemala. He is the author of several books and articles on international human rights and humanitarian law, self-determination of peoples, use of force in international relations, law of the sea and climate change, among others.
Honors and Affiliations
Saura graduated cum laude from the University of Barcelona in 1989. He is the president of the Institute of Human Rights of Catalonia.
Key Works
Saura's publications include "Lawful Peacekeeping: Applicability of International Humanitarian Law to United Nations Peacekeeping Operations" in Hastings Law Journal (2007); and "Some Remarks on the Use of Force against Terrorism in Contemporary International Law and the Role of the Security Council" in Loyola of Los Angeles International and Comparative Law Review (2003).
