Student Bar Association (SBA): General Meeting

The SBA General Meetings are held every other Monday in Warren Hall room 131 and any USD law student may attend. For information regarding recent General Meetings, please check the SBA TWEN page. Student organizations that are receiving funding from SBA must send a representative to each General Meeting.

Provost Search Consultant Visit: Graduate/Law Student Forum

Law students are invited to attend a student forum with the Provost Search Consultant team for the new USD Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Provost and Vice President is the University's chief academic officer, providing leadership to schools and promoting excellence in all of the University's academic programs and initiatives. This is an opportunity to meet the Provost Search Consultant team, share insights about your academic program and your overall law student experience.

Christian Legal Society : Second General Meeting

Join us for our second general meeting. Our faculty advisor, Professor Linda Lane, will share more information about the discipleship group. Additionally, we will finalize the plans for our annual "Thank You Breakfast" for the custodial and support staff of the law school. This breakfast is our service activity for the fall semester and is a great way to get involved. Lunch provided.

ELS and PILF are proud to host USD law alumnus Thomas Montgomery, Department Head of County Counsel. He will speak about his extensive experience working in the public sector, including in relation to various environmental issues. Burritos (vegan option available) and fruit will be served.

Phi Alpha Delta (PAD): Internship Panel

12 p.m. - 12:50 p.m.; Warren Hall Room 2B

Join PAD for a panel of 2L and 3L students discussing the previous internships they completed after their first year of law school. The panel will include students who worked in the private sector, public interest, and who studied abroad. Discussion topics will include how they found their internships, what the interview process was like, and the tasks they completed during their internship. Non-pizza lunch provided.

Casa Romantica: What Does Free Speech Mean?

McLennon Moot Court Class and Tournament

Still looking for a course for spring 2017? Want to practice your written and oral advocacy skills? Register for the Honors Moot Court Competition for the spring 2017 semester. The course will focus on written and oral appellate advocacy and will culminate with participation in the 2017 McLennon Honors Moot Court Competition (March 24-29). Students enrolled in the course will receive one pass/fail unit upon completion of the course and competition.

International Law Society (ILS): Now Accepting Applications for the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition

Are you a 2L interested in international law? Human rights? Moot Court? Or just a one-of-a-kind experience in Washington, D.C.? International Law Society is now accepting applications for the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition, taking place in Washington, D.C. May 21-26, 2017. ILS will be sending two students to compete! If interested, please submit a resume and writing sample to usdils@gmail.com by Sunday, November 13 at 7pm. Tryouts will consist of a 5 minute oral argument and will be held November 15 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in Warren Hall Room 2B. If you have any questions, please contact ILS President, Jamie Santos.

Academic Success and Bar Programs: Spring Academic Success Fellows Applications Due November 14

Are you looking for a way to earn additional income without sacrificing your studies? You could get paid to help fellow students and prepare for the bar exam in the process. With a manageable time commitment, this position allows you to keep another job or stay involved in various extracurricular activities. For more information, including a detailed job description, please visit the Academic Success page on TWEN. All applications are due on Monday, November 14. We are currently hiring Academic Success Fellows for the following 1L courses next Spring semester: Constitutional Law I (Rappaport, Alexander, M. Ramsey), Contracts (Barry, D. McGowan, Abrams, Claus), and Property (Wiggins, Minan, Hirsch, Bell).

USD Health Survey

All USD students will receive an email on November 1 requesting their participation in the USD Health Survey. Participation in the survey will provide USD Student Wellness with key data about our students' health, and the information college will enhance the university's ability to address the wellness needs of the USD community. The link you receive in your email is unique to you and the survey is confidential. Ten students who take the survey will win $50. More information about the Health Survey is available online. You have until Thanksgiving to complete the survey.

Graduate and Law Student Assessment Survey

On October 26, the Office of Graduate Student Life emailed all graduate and law students an invitation to take the Graduate/Law Student Experience Survey. This survey is designed to understand your current experience outside of the classroom and to explore how graduate and law students needs can be better met by the Office of Graduate Student Life.  All survey participants will be entered in a drawing and four will be randomly selected to receive a $50 Campus Cash gift card.
