Criminal Law Society: End it or Mend it? A Discussion on the Death Penalty

We are proud to host this panel discussion on the death penalty, with a focus on the two initiatives on the November ballot: Proposition 62 and Proposition 66. We will discuss the philosophy, constitutionality, and practicality of the death penalty in California. Our panel includes Professor John Cotsirilos, Gary Gibson (Law Office of G. Accu-Prints will provide Live Scan fingerprints and passport photos for 2Ls, 3Ls, and 4Ls. Live Scan fingerprints are required for the California State Bar Moral Character Application, and passport photos are required for the MPRE. Live Scan fingerprints are $19; a passport photo is $10; you can purchase both for $27. Cash or credit card only; no personal checks. Please note, fingerprints will expire after 90 days. Keep in mind that if you get fingerprinted on this date, you must plan to submit your Moral Character Application within 90 days. Accu-prints will be in The Writs again on Thursday, October 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Eighth Annual Climate & Energy Law Symposium: November 4, 2016

All are welcome to attend the Eighth Annual Climate & Energy Law Symposium, co-hosted by the Energy Policy Initiatives Center (EPIC) and San Diego Journal of Climate and Energy Law.  This year's theme is the Changing Landscape of Energy and Climate Policy in the West. Academic and policy experts will analyze and assess three aspects of this complex issue: regional expansion of the California Independent Operator; regional climate and energy policy approaches; and state approaches to climate and energy policy in the west. Fifth Annual Student, Alumni, and Faculty Golf Tournament: November 5, 2016

The USD Golf Law Society invites everyone to its Fifth Annual Golf Tournament at Encinitas Ranch Golf Course on Saturday, November 5. This event is open to all USD law students, alumni and faculty regardless of skill level. This is a unique networking opportunity, and a chance to spend a relaxing day outside with members of the USD law community. The cost for the tournament is $100 for alumni/faculty participants, and $50 for students. Please visit the event website for more information, including a complete schedule, and to register. Do an internship right here on campus. Join our on-site law office and gain skills working with actual clients on real legal cases. Animals on University Property

Please be advised that USD has a policy regarding animals on university property to which all members of the USD community are expected to adhere, including the School of Law community. The university prohibits the presence of pets and other animals (excluding approved service animals) in all university buildings. Pets and other animals are also not permitted at university events. Please read the entire policy to ensure that you are aware of the rules, exceptions, and consequences.
