Student Bar Association (SBA): Budget Committee Meeting

Registered student organizations can request funding from SBA. To request funding, fill out and submit a Budget Request Form, available on the SBA TWEN page, then sign up to present your request to the Budget Committee for funding. SBA Budget Committee Meetings will occur every other Monday in Warren Hall room 315.

The Red Mass

6 p.m.; Founders Chapel

Members of the San Diego area bench and bar and the University of San Diego School of Law community will gather in USD's Founders Chapel to participate in the Red Mass—a liturgy held to mark the opening of the judicial year.

The Red Mass is an occasion of prayerful petition and thanksgiving for all members of the legal profession, regardless of religious affiliation. Legal professionals and law students of all religious traditions are invited to attend.

The 2016 presider will be The Most Reverend Robert W. McElroy, Bishop of San Diego, CA.

A reception will follow in Founders Foyer. Registration is not required but is requested. Please respond by September 26, 2016.

Department of Public Safety: Campus Active Shooter Emergency Procedure Training

Student Refrigerators and Freezers Cleaning

The student refrigerators and freezers will be cleaned out today at 6 p.m. All items left in the refrigerators and freezers on this date will be thrown away (including all lunch bags and food containers). Items may be stored back in the refrigerators and freezers on Saturday, October 8 at 8 a.m. The student refrigerators and freezers are cleaned out on the first Friday of every month.

Student Wellness: Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Training

Did you know that suicide is the second-leading cause of death among people aged 25-34? Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) Suicide Training is designed to help identify the warning signs of suicide and reduce suicide behavior. In this one-hour training, you will learn how to recognize suicide-warning signs, ask someone you are concerned about whether they may be considering suicide, and help refer someone who may be struggling to professional help. Please register for this training and learn how to be a life-saving resource.

Advocates for Children and Education (ACE): SMART Program

12 p.m. - 4 p.m.; First United Methodist Church 119 E. 4th St. Escondido, CA 92025

This is a fun and rewarding pro bono opportunity. The SMART Program is aimed at teenagers who have committed one misdemeanor offense and are going through the Youth Court Diversion Program to keep the charge off of their record. The goal is to get these teens to think about their future, set goals, and make better decisions. We run one-on-one activities and group discussion.

Animals on University Property

Please be advised that USD has a policy regarding animals on university property to which all members of the USD community are expected to adhere, including the School of Law community. The university prohibits the presence of pets and other animals (excluding approved service animals) in all university buildings. Pets and other animals are also not permitted at university events. Please read the entire policy to ensure that you are aware of the rules, exceptions, and consequences.
