Diversity Panel and Reception: Effectively Navigating Law School and the San Diego Legal Community

4 p.m.; Warren Hall Room 2A; Reception to follow.
The Academic Success Program (ASP) invites all students to this program to celebrate the diversity of our new law students and the USD law community. An alumni panel will offer their thoughts on how to effectively navigate law school and the San Diego legal community. The panel will be followed by a reception with the USD law community. This is a great opportunity for students to learn more about the diverse community at USD and network with each other, alumni, faculty and administrators. Register for the event online. Pro Bono Legal Advocates (PBLA): Fall Informational Meeting

Join PBLA for lunch and learn about the seven clinics we hold in the San Diego community. Visit our website to learn more about the clinics. Our clinic opportunities range from just one day per semester to a few hours a week. Volunteers serve in the community while also gaining valuable experience and making meaningful connections with local attorneys. We'll have Subway for lunch. Hope to see you there. Moot Court: Alumni Intramural Moot Court Tournament Informational Meeting

12-12:50 p.m.; Legal Research Center Room 132.
Want to improve your appellate writing and oral advocacy skills in an exciting and competitive courtroom setting? Come learn about the Alumni Intramural Moot Court Tournament. This is USD's only moot court tournament in the fall semester, which will take place October 18-20. Participation is open to all 2Ls and 3Ls. The top ten performers may be invited to try out for a USD Moot Court National Team. Sign-ups for the Alumni Tournament will open September 9 and the problem will be released at noon on September 18. Contact: Alumni Tournament Coordinator Jill Menius.

Legal Research Center (LRC): Legal Tech Talk Series—Legal Apps

The LRC will provide a series of ten talks this year, each describing and explaining an area of technology important for lawyers and law students. Our first session's topic is Legal Apps. Business Law Society (BLS): First Meeting of the Year

Intramural Softball: Fall 2013 Sign-Ups

Law/Grad Intramural softball begins league play on Thursday, September 12, with games scheduled 7-11 p.m. Team rosters must be submitted and all players must be registered through USD Campus Recreation by Friday, September 6. Both items must be completed on the Campus Recreation website. All captains should contact Derek Noack to ensure that their team is registered. A Captain's Meeting will be held the week of September 9 to discuss rules and assign all free agent players. Contact: Grad/Law Intramural Coordinator Derek Noack.

Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair: Apply by September 6

The Equal Justice Works Conference and Career Fair will take place October 25-26 in Washington, D.C. and the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) is now accepting applications from interested 2Ls, 3Ls, and 4Ps. If you are interested in attending, please email your updated resume and a cover letter stating your interest in attending the conference by Friday, September 6 at 5 p.m. In your application materials, be sure to include any information regarding your experience in public interest law, interest in attaining a fellowship or meeting with D.C. employers, and whether you are enrolled in any classes with a public interest focus. Priority will be given to 2L students. If selected, USD will pay for your registration fees, hotel, and a portion of your airfare. Please contact PILF Co-Presidents Julie Hunter and Natida Sribhibhadh via email if you have any questions.

USD Law Private Scholarship Application

Through the generosity of our alumni and friends, over 70 awards are available. All continuing JD students are able to apply. The application is available online. Completed applications must be received no later than 5 p.m. on Friday, September 20. Late applications will not be considered. If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office by phone at (619) 260-4570, by email, or in person in Warren Hall room 203.

SBA Book Exchange: Motions Marketplace

The SBA Book Exchange is now online. It is hosted at the Motions Marketplace. You will need your USD email address to register for an account. Be sure to check your spam folder for the activation email. Motions Marketplace is the only place for the SBA Book Exchange this year, so sign up and shop now!

Student Organization Fair: Sign Up for a Table

Attention student organization presidents: If you would like to have a table at the Student Organization Club Fair on Tuesday, September 10, you must email SBA Vice President for Student Orgs Ernie Chen by 5 p.m. on September 3. Please include your student organization name, email and phone number.

Legal Research Center (LRC): SCVNGR Challenge Game

Welcome back! We invite all law students to play the LRC SCVNGR Challenge. SCVNGR is an app that allows you to earn points and connect with friends while learning your way around the library. Legal Research Center (LRC): Information Station

Stop by the LRC's new Info Station. Win prizes for playing library trivia games throughout the semester, learn about new legal apps, and charge your phone while researching on the stations iPad. Center for Public Interest Law  (CPIL): 2013-2014 Internship Available

Interested in studying state agencies that regulate business, professions and trades? Want to learn about the California legislative process and your future in public policy-making and public interest law?
