Important Deadlines

Mon. Nov. 12: Last day to withdraw.

Tue. Nov. 13 at 7:00 a.m.: Spring 2013 registration begins for all 3L full-time JD students.

Fri. Nov. 16 at 7:00 a.m.: Spring 2013 registration begins for all 2L full-time JD students and all visiting students.

Wed. Nov. 21: Deadline to complete the USD Health Survey.

Evaluation Week

Let your voice be heard! November 12-16 is Evaluation Week. Take some time to provide anonymous feedback on your courses this semester by filling out all of your online course evaluations. During Evaluation Week, you'll be able to log in to the evaluation forms during specified times in class, at home or at computer stations in The Writs. To access the Fall 2012 evaluation forms, log in to MySanDiego and click on the Law Student tab. Scroll down the page to Registration Tools and click on Active Registration. Then click on the course evaluation hyperlink with the professor's name to begin the evaluation. The evaluation results and written comments are read by the professor only after grades have been submitted. Contact: Assistant Dean for JD Student Affairs Emily Scivoletto.

Health Law Society (HLS): Health Law Attorney Panel

Hear our panel of attorneys discuss their career paths and how students can best situate themselves for a career in health law. The YogaLaw Society offers free yoga at USD. A fellow law student and certified yoga instructor will lead an hour-long power vinyasa flow. All law students are welcome. Dean's Ferruolo's Mixer

4:00-6:00 p.m.; Warren Hall Back Patio; Flu Shots in The Writs.

Diversity Committee (DivCom): Battle of the Brains Preliminary Rounds

4:20, 4:40, and 5:00 p.m.; Warren Hall Second Floor Foyer.
The annual Battle of the Brains Trivia Competition is upon us. The Preliminary Round lasts 30-45 minutes. Students in teams of three will compete for a chance to face off against USD fauclty members in the spring competition. Please meet in the second floor foyer for room assignments. Korean American Bar Association of San Diego (KABA-SD): Mentor/Mentee Kick-Off Happy Hour

Academic Success Program: Practice, Practice, Practice—Law School Exam Preparation

Learn skills and techniques to improve your law school exam performance. You will leave this workshop feeling prepared to organize and attack any law school exam. This program repeats at 4:30 p.m. today. Contact: Director of Academic Success Kiyana Kiel.

Probate Examiners' Update

This panel will provide an update regarding the changes in process anticipated for next year, including local rule change and examiners' concerns in reviewing petitions and accountings. Young Tax Lawyers Speaker Series: Employee Benefit and Compensation

Robert K. Butterfield will present an overview of employee benefit and compensation matters, including pensions, profit sharing, ESOPs and 401(k) plans, with special emphasis on ERISA standards for pension plans in private industry. USD Health Survey: Pencil Us In

All USD law students should have received the USD Health Survey in their USD email accounts on November 1. Please take the time to complete this survey as your voice will provide univeristy administrators with current, relevant data that will be used to enhance campus-wide health promotion and prevention services. Five survey participants will win $100 in cash! For more information about the survey, please visit the USD Wellness website.

NCAA College Cup: Parking Impact

Friday, November 30 and Sunday, December 2; all day.
USD is hosting the 2012 NCAA College Cup to crown the national champion in Division I Women's soccer. As a result of this event, the top three levels of the Mission Parking Structure will be reserved on Friday, November 30, 6:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 2, 6:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The bottom two levels of the structure will remain reserved for residential parking. There will also be heavy traffic delays on Linda Vista Road. The College Cup falls during the law school's study period, and you should plan accordingly. More information will be emailed to you regarding shuttles from the west lot to the law school and a study area at the Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice. Contact: Office for JD Student Affairs.

Legal Research Center (LRC): November Highlights

For the special election month of November, the LRC is highlighting the two major political parties. Check out our highlights flyers with resources for the democratic and republican parties. November is also "like the LRC" on Facebook month. Coming soon: student intitiated holds on LRC books and SMS messaging of your library record.

International Law Society (ILS): Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Tryouts

ILS is holding tryouts for the Inter-American Human Rights Moot Court Competition on November 14. Two students will be selected to represent USD at the 2013 competition in Washington, D.C. Tryouts are open to all 2L and 3L students. If you are interested in trying out, please email ILS by November 9 for more information and to receive the tryout mock problem. This is a great opportunity for students interested in oral advocacy. Contact: ILS President Austin Berger.

Criminal Clinic Spring 2013 Applications

The applications for the Spring 2013 Criminal Clinic are available in Warren Hall Room 218 starting Monday, October 1. Contact: Professor Jean Ramirez.
