Announcements

Animals on University Property

Please be advised that USD has a policy regarding animals on university property to which all members of the USD community are expected to adhere, including the School of Law community. The university prohibits the presence of pets and other animals (excluding approved service animals) in all university buildings. Pets and other non-service animals are also not permitted at university events. Please read the entire policy to ensure that you are aware of the rules, exceptions, and consequences.

Mandatory Title IX Training

The annual online training on sexual misconduct and relationship violence has been issued. All students at USD should have received an email from Campus Clarity on Tuesday, August 22 with a link to complete the training. All students at USD are required to complete this training in accordance with federal regulations. The deadline to complete this training is October 1, 2017. Students who do not complete the training by this date will be assessed a noncompliance fee in the amount of $250. Because this is an annual training, prior completion of the training does not exempt students from the requirement. If you have questions about the training, please visit the Title IX website or email titleix@sandiego.edu.

Student Bar Association (SBA): Student Mentorship Program

The SBA Student Mentorship Program is a great way for 1Ls to get to know USD. 1Ls who sign up will receive an upper-class mentor; someone you can go to for advice and support. If you are an upper-class student who is interested in becoming a mentor for a 1L, please email SBA Vice President Stephen Wainwright by Friday, September 1, 2017.

Student Health Insurance Requirement

All law students are required to have health insurance while enrolled at USD. You may purchase an insurance policy through the school's provider, or you may waive participation in the University-sponsored plan if you have a policy that will provide you with sufficient coverage while you are at USD. All students must either enroll in or waive out of the student health insurance plan. Your student account will automatically be charged for the student health insurance plan unless you submit a waiver by the deadline (September 15, 2017). For detailed information about the student health insurance requirement and instructions on how to enroll in or waive the student health insurance plan, please visit the USD health insurance website. Students should submit any insurance related questions via the Gallagher Student Customer Service form. Please note that dependent coverage is not available for 2017-18 under the USD student health insurance plan.
