Join us for this informal discussion with alumna Chanelle Hawken, '05 (JD). Chanelle will give insight and advice relating to her career and answer student questions.

Chanelle Hawken is the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce's vice president of public policy. Chanelle manages the Chamber’s public policy planning and advocacy agenda for the Chamber, including the Chamber’s seven policy committees and Sacramento advocates. Chanelle represents the business community’s interests before government bodies, and researches and analyzes government policy for committee review, discussion and advocacy. She facilitates the Chamber’s Committees on Public Policy, Infrastructure Housing and Land Use, Healthcare, and special ad hoc committees.

Chanelle previously worked in Government Relations with the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority. She was the Authority’s liaison to local state and federal government officials, developed and implemented strategies for the Authority, represented them at hearings and meetings, and monitored legislation of interest to the San Diego International Airport. Chanelle previously worked at the City of San Diego where she served the Council President’s Lead Policy Advisor. She was responsible for overseeing and coordinating policy issues, and for preparation of items on the City Council docket. In addition, Chanelle handled several major policy areas for the office.
