Interested in achieving work/life balance upon entering the legal profession?

On March 19, 2009, the Lawyers Club’s Balance Campaign will host a Symposium on Work/Life Balance at the Bristol Hotel in downtown San Diego.  The symposium will run from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., and will include a discussion led by women lawyers in a variety of fields, as well as a lunchtime presentation regarding a new initiative aimed at enhancing balance, profitability and productivity in the legal profession. 

The morning discussion panelists will include Amanda Mineer, co-founder of the National Association of Freelance Legal Professionals, CA; Professor Lisa P. Ramsey, Associate Professor at the University of San Diego, School of Law; the Honorable Karen Tanler Fleming, Deputy Commissioner, Board of Parole Hearings; and Kimberly Greer, Of Counsel, Morrison & Foerster LLP.  The discussion will be moderated by Professor Jacquelyn Hersh Slotkin, Professor of Law and Director of the LL.M. and M.C.L. Programs for Foreign Lawyers at California Western School of Law and co-editor of It's Harder in Heels: Essays by Women Lawyers Achieving Work-Life Balance.

The presenters for the lunchtime program, “New Developments: Balanomics Initiative to Enhance Balance, Profitability and Productivity in the Legal Profession,” include Rupa G. Singh, Partner, McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP and initiative liaison to the North American South Asian Bar Association; Darragh J. Davis, Vice President and General Counsel, PETCO Law Department; Elizabeth B. Daniels, Chief Legal Counsel, SIMNSA Health Plan and Immediate Past President, Association of Corporate Counsel, San Diego Chapter; and Deborah Epstein Henry, Founder and President, Flex-Time Lawyers LLC.

You may register for the Symposium at the door, or online in advance.  While the “regular” cost of admission is $30 for Lawyers Club members and $40 for non-members, students can attend the event (including lunch) for a discounted price of $20.  Attendance also includes two hours of MCLE credit (including 1 hour of Elimination of Bias Credit).
