The Academic Success Program offers a variety of services and programs specially designed to help first year law students succeed.
Extensive First Year Legal Writing and Research Program
USD is strongly committed to developing students' written and oral communication skills. All students must complete two lawyering skills classes in their first year of study.
Moot Court/Trial Advocacy Program
Each year USD students train, compete and place well in state, national & international moot court and mock trial competitions.
Clinical Education Programs
USD law students have opportunities in child advocacy, civil, criminal, criminal appeals, entrepreneurship, environmental law, immigration, land use, mental health, public interest, small claims, special education and tax clinics.
Summer Law Study Abroad
USD’s study abroad programs provide intensive training in international law, while introducing American students to the legal institutions of another country.
