SAN DIEGO (May 3, 2011)—Prominent trial attorney Virginia C. Nelson, a 1979 University of San Diego (USD) School of Law graduate, will be honored by the University with the Arthur E. Hughes Award for Career Achievement on June 4.
Specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice for more than 30 years, Nelson has received numerous honors for her skill and dedication. In 1998, she was the recipient of the Daniel T. Broderick III Award, which is presented for exemplifying the highest standards of civility, integrity and professionalism. Nelson also served as the youngest president of the San Diego County Bar Association in 1990.
Nelson has been extremely active with USD since her graduation and has been a member of the USD School of Law's Board of Visitors since 1991. Nelson has volunteered her time to many other organizations including KPBS and the Domestic Violence Prevention Program.
"Ginny is truly deserving of this recognition,” said USD School of Law Dean Kevin Cole. “Her mark on our community is significant as one of San Diego's top attorneys and a dedicated volunteer for so many organizations. Her longstanding record of accomplishment speaks for itself, and it is a pleasure to recognize her for her extraordinary achievements."
