Sponsred by the San Diego Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society, the event titled, "The Affordable Care Act Decision: The Future of Health Care and the Constitution," brings together three local experts on the case: USD's Professor McGowan; Mike Bardin, Senior Director of Public and Government Affairs at Scripps Health; and Susan A. Channick, Professor of Law and Co-Director of the Health Law Master Degree Program at California Western School of Law. McGowan will be on hand to discuss the court's decision and how it may affect future federal legislation. "The pundits got it wrong on their upholding it on commerce clause grounds," says McGowan. In a recent San Diego Union-Tribune opinion article, McGowan predicted correctly that Justice Roberts would be the swing vote. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. For directions and to register for the event, please visit the event website.
