USD Law Professor Michael Attanasio Achieves Complete Trial Victory; Roger Clemens Cleared on All Accounts
San Diego (June 20, 2012) — University of San Diego School of Law Adjunct Professor Michael Attanasio represented former Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens, alongside Rusty Hardin, achieving a trial victory. Clemens has been found not guilty of all six charges in the obstruction of Congress and perjury prosecution brought by the U.S. Attorney's Office of the District of Columbia.
"Clemens deserved nothing less," Attanasio said. "The case against him was riddled with profound problems. This jury wasn't taken in. It's been an epic saga, and we are all thrilled that such a decisive verdict has been delivered. Roger is innocent and he should never have been charged."
The trial, which lasted over two months, has been the focus of attention across the United States and by sports fans all over the world. Prosecutors alleged that Clemens lied about steroid usage and committed perjury before Congress. He was found not guilty on all counts.
