Conference Overview
The University of San Diego, School of Law, is pleased to present “The Future of Patent Law,” which will address the America Invents Act and other landmark changes in patent law taking place at the Federal Circuit, U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, and globally.
The opening evening of the event on Thursday evening, January 19, at the House of Blues in downtown San Diego, will be a musical performance by Chief Judge Randall Rader of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and his band DeNovo, with an introduction by Dean for IP Studies, George Washington University Law School & former solicitor general of the USPTO, John Whealan.

There is no parking available at the House of Blues. Concert parking is available after 5:00 p.m. in the Wells Fargo Building garage on the Southeast corner of 4th and B. The entrance to the garage is on the left side of 4th, immediately after B street. Cost - $10 per car.

From all directions, once you enter the west entrance, stop by the parking kiosk for a complimentary visitor permit, then:
- Proceed up the hill to the Institute for Peace & Justice, which will be the first building on your right side (across from Mother Rosalie Hill Hall)
- Then make a right on Camino Way (first 4-way stop).
- Turn right in the first driveway for parking.
- After you park, go to the 1st floor.
- Check-in is located in the Rotunda.
- Campus Map. Look for building #12 on the map.
Mass Transit For attendees wishing to use mass transit, please be advised that schedules and services are limited; consulting schedules in advance is highly recommended. The most convenient hub is the Old Town Transit Center, which is served by bus, the San Diego Trolley, and the Coaster commuter train. The Old Town station is served by USD shuttle buses. Hotel Partner The University of San Diego’s lodging partner is Bartell Hotels. Shuttle service from Bartell Hotel’s The Dana on Mission Bay will be available to and from the symposium.
