| Abstract | In honor of the publication of From Chance to Choice: Genetics and Justice, the University of San Diego School of Law held a two day symposium on the book. Capron responds to chapter 6 of the book, in which the authors discuss reproductive freedom and its application to genetic testing, counseling, and manipulation. He argues that reproductive freedom cannot be attached to the individual, and that this lack of individual autonomy complicates the issues of reproductive freedom and decisions regarding genetic modification. Professor Capron questions the authors' conclusion that parents are morally wrong for failing to take steps to prevent the burdens to their children caused by genetic conditions. |
