| Abstract | Many ex-spouses and single parents find it difficult to collect support from the absent obligor. These difficulties multiply when the parties to a support order live in different states. In the absence of federal or uniform state legislation, the problem has three components: (1) the state creating the support order has no effective way to assure its enforcement against an obligor in a different state; (2) the obligor’s state is limited in its ability to enforce a different state’s support order; (3) the support obligee must undergo considerable expense to travel to the obligor’s state in an effort to enforce the order or to obtain a new order. This article discusses the project of solving the problem of interstate enforcement of support orders. |
