| Abstract | A trial court’s determination of spousal support is highly discretionary and specific to the facts and circumstances of each case. In arriving at their awards, however, courts necessarily must look to the history of the marriage in determining how to help the parties move past their marriage. Several of the factors identified in Family Code § 4320, supported by other provisions in California’s alimony statute, emphasize the importance of developing a detailed history of the marriage undergoing divorce in arguing for and determining an alimony award. |
