| Abstract | This article reports my test of the extent of a trial court’s discretion in deciding issues regarding spousal support by determining how often trial court determinations of spousal support issues have been reversed on appeal in the last 26 years. Trial courts must deal with a variety of spousal support issues. Possibly appellate courts’ attitudes about trial court discretion differ from issue to issue. In this memo I attempt to gauge the appellate treatment of trial court decisions with respect to the most prominent spousal support issues. |
