| Abstract | About 16 million U.S. wives today run the risk of becoming displaced homemakers. After explaining the economic difficulties a displaced homemaker faces in the no-fault divorce era, Cynthia Starnes proposes a reform, based on “contemporary partnership law” and a reconceptualization of divorce, that “will both ease current suffering and encourage future relaxation of gender roles.” I review Prof. Starnes’s analysis of the problem and critique her solution. |
