USD School of Law Alumni Launch Independent Voter Network Website

Message

Chad PeaceSan Diego (October 12, 2012) — Today, Chad Peace, a 2012 graduate of USD School of Law and founder of the Independent Voter Network (IVN), was interviewed by host Peggy Pico about the new online network dedicated to providing political analysis and rational commentary to elevate the level of public discourse when discussing politics.

An online news platform for communication, IVN provides a forum for respectful discussion between independent-minded voters, public officials, civic leaders and journalists. The site was launched in San Diego in January 2012

Chad Peace on KPBS-TVPeace says the website has seen explosive growth leading up to the November election, which is not surprising considering one-quarter of registered voters in SanDiego County, or about 300,000 voters, are not affiliated with a political party.

“We started IVN to provide aplatform for communication where we can all start talking to each other, instead of past one another,” said Peace. “There are simple etiquette guidelines: don’t attack each other, substantiate what you say and don’t make partisan-based attacks.”

The website also discourages self-promotion.

The purpose of IVN.us is to provide unfiltered political news and policy analysis across the political spectrum. Unlike traditional media outlets and elsewhere in the “blogosphere” where the diversity of viewpoints is often reduced into partisan circles, IVN actively encourages contributors and readers of differing political tendencies to engage in a constructive dialogue.

USD School of Law alumni also on the IVN team include 2012 graduates Matt Metzner, Blaz Gutierrez and Lucas Eaves.
