Alex M. Calero ’05 New Vice Chair of the California Young Lawyers Association
Alex M. Calero, ’05, becomes the vice chair of the California Young Lawyers Association (CYLA) on October 14, 2012, upon conclusion of the State Bar of California Annual Meeting in Monterey, California.
Created in 1965, CYLA is the nation's largest association of new lawyers. All lawyers licensed to practice in California with five years or less of practice or who are 36 years old or younger are automatically members of CYLA. CYLA sponsors educational programs, networking opportunities and other resources geared for new attorneys.
Alex, a California native, works as a litigator in the Enforcement Division of the California Department of Corporations. He has been the lead attorney in securities fraud cases resulting in multimillion-dollar settlements. During law school, he interned at the Center for Public Interest Law and the California Attorney General's Office.
"Over the next year, we will expand CYLA's educational programs geared for new attorneys, creating more networking opportunities, and increase outreach to new lawyers in California," Alex said.
Alex will serve as vice chair of CYLA until the conclusion of the 2013 State Bar of California Annual Meeting.
