USD School of Law Remembers Verna Dennehy

Message

Verna Dennehy imageVerna Ruth Dennehy, a thirty-year veteran of the law school records office, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 20, with her family by her side. She retired in 2005. Many alumni and law school staff and faculty remember her well. Loved by the students, Verna was their confidante and advisor. Her endless energy, keen knowledge of her job, and fun and sassy attitude left a positive and indelible mark upon the law school.

"When I first started working with Verna, she was already in her 80s," said Erik Kim-Holmgren, assistant registrar at the law school. "I was truly amazed by her spunky demeanor, the amount of work she could do, and her uniquely distinctive opinion on just about everyone who worked at the law school."

Born November 8, 1923 in Ansonia, Connecticut, Verna was laid to rest at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. In remembrance of Verna, donations can be made to WarriorFoundation.com. Both Verna and her husband, John, had served in the United States Navy, and two of her sons are Navy Seals.
