Ann Gail (Brown) Meinster, ’78, was sworn in as a District Court Judge in the 1st Judicial District, Golden, Colorado, in November. Judge Meinster was appointed to the position by Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper and will serve as the Presiding Juvenile Judge for the 1st Judicial District. Judge Meinster has served since 2009 as a District Court Magistrate on Juvenile and Domestic Relations cases and as the presiding judicial officer for the Family Integrated Treatment Court. Prior to that appointment, she served as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) for the Office of the Child’s Representative (OCR) for six counties in Colorado. She also served as the Assistant Park County Attorney representing the Park County Department of Human Services from 1998-2002. From 1978-2009, Judge Meinster was in partnership with her husband in private practice. Her career has always focused on child advocacy. In 2006 Judge Meinster was appointed to the OCR Board of Directors where she served until her appointment to the bench. In 2004, she received the Linda Palmieri Award from the 1st Judicial District Bar Association for Outstanding Service on Behalf of Children. Judge Meinster earned a bachelor’s degree from Mount Holyoke College in 1974. She is licensed to practice law in California, Maryland, and Colorado. |
