Fox 5 San Diego -- GirlTech San Diego, a non-profit program, aims at inspiring young girls to learn and apply computing skills.
Their goal is to introduce more girls to science, technology, engineering and mathematic industries – where there are less than 25 percent of women in those areas.
pic“They don’t get much of an opportunity to do that in their schools or in their communities,” said Perla Myers, an Associate Dean at the Mathematics and Computer Science Department at University of San Diego. “We need to show [young girls] how wonderful and useful computers and programming are to any future career they choose.” (Full Article)
