Nelson and Harnish to offer Team-Taught Course in Bali June '14

Professors David Harnish (Music) and Lance Nelson (Theology and Religious Studies) will be offering an exciting study abroad course "Religion & the Performing Arts in Bali" in June 2014.  Centered in the town of Ubud, south-central Bali (Indonesia), this interdisciplinary, team-taught course will explore the faith, practice, music, and dance of Balinese Hindus, particularly in terms of their highly developed ritual sensibility and their integration of music, drama, and other arts in their vibrant ritual life.

The island of Bali is famous for its artistic culture, vibrant colors, and beautiful beaches. The Balinese welcome visitors, and the island has an ideal combination of traditional culture and modern tourist infrastructure. Southeast Asia is rapidly increasing in importance, both geopolitically and as a vibrant emerging market.
