USD Law Alumni Receive 2013 La Mancha Awards

San Diego (October 9, 2013) – Four University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumni will receive awards at the Sixth Annual La Mancha Awards on Thursday, October 17. The awards are presented by Casa Cornelia Law Center, a public interest law firm that provides pro bono legal services to victims of human and civil rights violations in San Diego.

USD School of Law alumni Shannon M. Erickson, ‘04 (JD), a partner at Best Best & Kriger, LLP in San Diego; Katherine Knudsen, ’86 (JD), senior counsel at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, LLP; and Adriana R. Sanchez, ’07 (JD), an associate at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch, LLP will receive Inn of Court Pro Bono Publico Awards for donating a significant number of hours of exceptional pro bono representation during 2012.

Andrew Murphy, ’13 (JD), will receive a special recognition award for providing exceptional legal assistance to clients within specific Casa Cornelia programs in 2012. Murphy was a legal intern working on asylum cases at the time.

Casa Cornelia Law Center bestows the annual La Mancha Awards in recognition of outstanding contribution to its mission, to provide pro bono legal services to victims of human and civil rights violations.

The awards ceremony is from 6-8 p.m. at the University of San Diego’s Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice. Tickets are $75, which includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and beer. Proceeds benefit Casa Cornelia’s programs. For details, visit casacornelia.org or call (619) 231-7788, ext. 304.
