TPB Brings Us 'Recess'

Recess is coming to the USD campus!

Yes, you read that right. Recess is coming to USD, complete with a playground and a study hall, too. The annual Changemaker Fest will be September 30 through October 4, and is packed with exciting and engaging programs and workshops for our community. One of these events is “Recess,” a three-part series happening Thursday, October 3, sponsored by the Torero Program Board.

The first part of the series is “The Playground” or the Career Fair. This will take place on Torero Way starting at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. It is not your typical "business formal" type of career fair. There will be 20 vendors set up, a majority of them being start-up companies that are all socially responsible and innovative. The playground will be interactive, fun, and provide a unique environment for students to network.

After spending some time on the playground, it will be time to make your way over to “Study Hall.” Study Hall will feature four speakers; all of them will be entrepreneurs who are involved in companies that promote values of changemaking. Study Hall will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Hahn University Center, Forum C.

Lastly, the series will finish off with a music festival. This will be happening at 8 p.m. in all of the University Center Forums, but tickets are required for the event, so please purchase your tickets soon.

Everyone is welcome to participate and encouraged to get involved with Recess. The Torero Program Board has worked with them to spin their series and have it connect with the growing Changemaker initiative happening here on our campus.

The Changemaker Fest is devoted to defining, discovering, and creating change into action. While we celebrate our second year as a designated AshokaU Changemaker Campus, be sure to take advantage and join in on the festivities. Thanks to TPB, we can take a “Recess” break and see how we can reach our full potential as Changemakers!
