San Diego (August 5, 2013) - Dean Stephen C. Ferruolo announced today that Horacio Spector has accepted an appointment as professor of law at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law. Spector has regularly taught at USD as a visiting professor of law since 2008. Spector will join the USD faculty during the 2014 spring semester and divide his time between USD and the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
"I am very pleased that Horacio Spector will be joining our faculty,” said Dean Ferruolo. “He is an eminent scholar of legal theory and comparative law, has been instrumental in establishing our new exchange program with the law school at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, and will be a great asset to our expanding international law program.”
Horacio Spector is the founding dean of the law school at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, where he teaches law and economics and legal theory. He is the managing editor of Latin American and Caribbean Journal of Legal Studies and has been a visiting professor at Oxford University's Balliol College, the Paul M. Hebert Law Center of Louisiana State University, the University of Toronto and the Universidad de Alicante in Spain. Spector was also a research fellow with the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation at Harvard University in 1992, twice a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Heidelberg and in 1996 was awarded the Diploma of Merit Konex in Philosophy of Law.
