City Attorney Goldsmith and 8 Others Given USD Alumni Awards

San Diego 6 News -- Immigrant rights advocate Enrique Morones Careaga and San Diego City Attorney Jan Goldsmith are among nine people to be given University of San Diego alumni awards, the school announced Tuesday.

Morones founded Border Angels, which sought to prevent immigrant deaths. He is also a former president of the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the first person born in the United States to be given Mexico's National Human Rights Award.

At an April 27 ceremony at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice, Morones will receive USD's Bishop Charles Francis Buddy Award for contributions to humanitarian causes. (Full Story
