Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Mock Trial and Moot Court Teams

San Diego (March 7, 2013) – Six USD Law students competed at the 2013 Western Regional Black Law Students Association Conference in Los Angeles in January 2013.

Trying a case that involved several causes of action including medical malpractice and personal injury, the mock trial team consisting of Tatiana Kline, LaShanta Racquel Raymond, Lisa Fullmer, and Uchechi Egeonuigwe made it to the final round and came in fourth place. "We didn't win, but we received lots of very encouraging feedback from the judges," Kline commented.

The moot court team of Brad Muldrow and Vernon Evans argued for both petitioner and respondent in a case that raised eminent domain and due process issues as well as the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act. They won the award for Best Respondent Brief, and Brad was voted Best Oral Advocate. They will be traveling to the nationals in Atlanta in March.

"We'll be going up against tough east coast teams like Harvard," said Evans. "But we're not scared; we can't wait to compete."
