Aavailable to first- and second-year law students, the Administravive Hearing Program (AHP) operates as an administrative municipal court for the City and County of San Diego in matters relating to the adjudication of administrative citations and permit/license regulation. The position the AHP is seeking to fill is the administrative law cleark (ALC). The ALC's duties will include research and writing of memorada as well as litigant intake for individuals contesting municipal actions. ALC's receive priority when applying for Hearing Officer positions as they become available.
Hearing Officers, act as municipal administrative law judges who preside over the cases the AHP hears. Alumni of the AHP have gone on to become Administrative Law Judges for various state agencies.
Ability to research legal issues and proficiently use Westlaw/Lexis. Ability to deal with the public. Proficiency with Microsoft Word. Foreign languages are a plus.
Six positions available approximately 20 hours per week.
Mon-Thur 8:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
