Professor Weaver teaches advanced civil litigation.

Professional Experience

Weaver is a retired litigation partner in the San Diego office of Latham & Watkins, where he specialized in complex business litigation, trial practice, mediation and arbitration. He served as a law clerk to the Honorable Gordon Thompson, Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. He serves as a consultant to national law firms on law firm management and claims avoidance and is a frequent speaker on legal malpractice issues.

Honors and Affiliations

Weaver is a member of the USD School of Law Board of Visitors. He is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Commercial Arbitrators. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association, the International Center for Dispute Resolution and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He is listed in “Best Lawyers in America,” “Who’s Who in America” and “Who’s Who in American Law.”

Key Works

Weaver’s publications include “Keeping it In House: Guidance to General Counsel on How to Stay out of Court” in Association of Corporate Counsel (2005) and “Litigation Avoidance and Prevention” in Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts, 2d Ed. (West Group, 2005).
