Emily Hirsekorn graduated from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, where she was admitted to the Order of the Coif, an honor awarded to the top 10% of each graduating class, and served as an associate managing editor for the Pacific McGeorge Global Business & Development Law Journal. She joined the University of San Diego School of Law’s Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) in 2014, bringing with her varied experience from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

 

Hirsekorn started her career in education law with the San Diego office of Dannis Woliver Kelley and a post-graduate law clerkship with the San Diego Unified School District. She represented public school districts in special education, labor and employment, and charter school matters. Thereafter, she worked as an assistant director for civil rights nonprofit the Anti-Defamation League. In this position, she led a team of program facilitators to provide local educators, students, school police, and parents across San Diego County anti-bias education programming and participated in the agency’s policy efforts to address the school-to-prison pipeline.

 

During law school, Hirsekorn worked as a summer associate in the Sacramento office of Weintraub Genshlea Chediak (now Weintraub Tobin) and as a judicial extern for the Honorable Justice Ronald B. Robie of the California Court of Appeal.
