Emily Scivoletto joined the University of San Diego in August of 2010 as the law school's Dean of Students. She oversees approximately 1000 students within the JD program and provides support to all students in meeting their academic goals. She strives to assist every law student in being active, engaged and successful. Dean Scivoletto advises students regarding law school curriculum, study skills and exam preparation, and conducts programs to help students achieve success in their law school classes and on the bar exam. Prior to coming to USD she taught doctrinal and skills courses at both UC Davis and McGeorge Law Schools, and served as Director of Educational Outreach (to increase diversity in law school) and Director of Academic Success. Dean Scivoletto began her legal career as an associate and later a named partner at a law firm in Sacramento, where she handled insurance defense and civil rights litigation cases. In addition, Dean Scivoletto obtained a Masters in Education from CSU Sacramento and focused her coursework and thesis on leadership, diversity and law school academic support programs. She was born in Chico, California and lives with her husband and the smartest dog in the world, Sadie, in San Diego.
