Details

Professor Uwe Steinhoff, Associate Professor of the University of Hong Kong, has a forthcoming book, Just War Theory, a large part of which deals with the ethical aspects of self-defense,as they apply to individual defensive actions and to collective defense (war). The participants in this conference are presenting responses to Steinhoff's arguments but also elaborating their own views on aspects of self-defense theory. They will consider what acts in defense of self or others are justified, what are excused, and what are neither but are instead culpable.
