ON GOVERNOR BROWN'S VETO OF SB 1476

"Until this law gets changed, judges in California will be forced to issue rulings they know will hurt children by bluntly ordering an end to their real relationships with their real parents. This is wrong, it hurts children, and it should not endure and we will work with the Governor and anyone else to ensure that this does not endure."

—Ed Howard, Senior Counsel, Children's Advocacy Institute, University of San Diego School of Law

  • SB 1434 (Feuer) adds certain college and university personnel to the state's list of mandated reporters. Status: Signed by the Governor on Sept. 24, 2012 (Chapter 519, Statutes of 2012)
  • AB 1751 (Pan) authorizes social worker access to child support records and files from Family Court proceedings in order to provide relevant information to the Dependency Court. Status: Signed by the Governor on Sept. 27, 2012 (Chapter 637, Statutes of 2012)
