Fall Recruiting Timeline

 

The fall recruiting season offers jobs for fall 2013, spring 2014, and summer 2014. It is the only opportunity to apply to most national law firms and federal government agencies. However, the USD Fall Recruiting Program is only one of many steps we recommend. Please see a Career Advisor to develop a comprehensive, personalized job search strategy.

Below is a timeline to help guide you through the recruiting season. Please note that Several Critical Deadlines Occur Before Fall Classes Resume!

Important Dates and Deadlines

Throughout the Summer

1. Examine, evaluate, excogitate and embrace the 2013 Fall Recruiting Guide.

2. Prepare and revise your application materials. These materials include a resume, cover letter, writing sample, transcript/grade sheet, and a reference list. The Career Services Guides (available under the "Resourcess" tab, in Symplicity) can assist you.

3. Research employers that interest you-including those not participating in USD Fall Recruiting.
June – July Meet with a Career Advisor to review your application materials and create a comprehensive job search strategy that includes a list of prospective employers. Phone appointments are available.
Early-July Begin reviewing USD Fall Recruiting listings on Symplicity. New opportunities will be added on an ongoing basis so check Symplicity regularly.
By August 1, 2013 Send applications to employers not participating in USD Fall Recruiting, including law firms, government agencies, and public interest organizations.
July 24 , 2013 at 5 pm Deadline to upload Round 1 "OCI" & "Resume Collect" Fall Recruiting applications & register for the Fall Mock Interview Program.
July - September Apply to Write Directly Employers.
August 1 - 6, 2013 Participate in the 2013 Fall Mock Interview Program.
August 7 - 27, 2013 Round 1 On-Campus Interviews Dates.
August, 14, 2013 at 5 pm Deadline to upload (i) Round 2 "OCI" & "Resume Collect" Fall Recruiting applications and (ii) "USD in LA" applications.
August 28, 2013 - September 13, 2013 Round 2 On-Campus Interview Dates.
July – December Collaborate with a Career Advisor to review and, if necessary, adjust your fall job search. This may include creating an employer follow-up strategy, leveraging an interview into more opportunities and participating in a mock interview.
