What is USD Spring Recruiting?
USD Spring Recruiting connects students with law firms, corporations, government offices and public interest agencies through three methods: on–campus interviewing, resume collection and write directly. While Spring Recruiting offers many opportunities to gain legal experience during spring, summer and fall 2013, it is a smaller program than Fall Recruiting and should be only one component of your spring semester job search.
Why Should You Participate?
For many participating employers Spring Recruiting will be the only means through which they find students to fill their hiring needs. If you do not participate you may be missing out on the opportunity to apply to a preferred position. Practical legal experience makes you more competitive in the legal job market and employers prefer to hire graduates who have at least two strong practical legal experiences on their resumes. Additionally, students consistently report that gaining prior practical legal experience makes them feel more comfortable and desired during Fall Recruiting because they can discuss their internships during interviews and they are more confident in their legal skills.
What is the Deadline for Spring Recruiting?
The deadline to upload your application materials onto Symplicity and apply to individual employers is Monday, January 28, 2013 at 5 p.m. You will be able to view participating employers on Symplicity in late January. New employers continue to sign up until the deadline, so continue to check Symplicity for new listings.
To Which Positions Should You Apply?
Given the competitive legal market, we recommend you apply for all positions (1) for which you meet the hiring criteria and (2) from whom you would genuinely consider an offer of employment given your other prospects. Note: If an employer selects you for an interview, you are required to attend.
