Practical Training

USD’s Clinical Education Program bridges the gap between legal theory and the practical skills and experience individuals need to become effective lawyers.

  • The law school’s extensive clinical program boasts 14 on-site legal clinics as well as an administrative hearing program, simulation classes, and placements in the judiciary, with government and public interest agencies and with corporate counsel. 
  • USD's Technology Entrepreneurship Clinic provides students with hands-on, real world experience assisting new technology start-ups firms.
  • In 2013 and 2011, USD Law students argued cases before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals through our Appellate Clinic.  Audio of the Argument.
  • USD offers semester and summer study abroad programs in 10 different countries throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America to encourage global awareness and exposure to foreign legal systems, cultures and viewpoints.
