Lizzette Herrera Castellanos is a graduate of the University of San Diego School of Law and has a masters in social work from San Diego State University. Herrera Castellanos has worked with the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program as well as with the UCSD Binational Program, where she provided legal and regulatory assistance to children infected with HIV in Mexico and refugee clients from Africa.
In addition, Herrera Castellanos is a professor of paralegal and legal studies at Southwestern College. She is a past president of San Diego La Raza Lawyers and currently serves as a board member for that organization. She is a past chair of the Lawyers’ Club of San Diego Diverse Women’s Task Force. She was also elected to the board of directors of the San Diego County Bar Association for the 2013- 2016 term. She is an appointed commissioner to the Hispanic National Bar Association Commission on Status of Latinas in the Legal Profession. Her valuable perspective as a USD alumna, her leadership and action on diversity issues in the local and national communities as well as her unparalleled knowledge of the public service sector provide a fantastic resource for all students.
