Distinguished Alumni Awardee Endowed Scholarship

Funding a scholarship is a meaningful way to give back to the law school and serves a vital role in shaping the quality, diversity, and caliber of students graduating from USD. Read more about Named Scholarships.

Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the law school’s Distinguished Alumni Awards (DAA), Todd F. Stevens, '88 (JD), and John L. Morrell, '84 (JD), are leading the effort to recognize this milestone by reaching out to 75 past award recipients to harness the collective strength of these influential leaders and fund a new endowed scholarship at USD School of Law.

The distinction of being selected as the recipient of this scholarship will be a lifelong honor for the student who best embodies the ideals of the profession as an ethical advocate.

Loan Repayment Assistance for Public Interest Law Alumni

USD School of Law assists alumni choosing public interest law as a career with repaying their law school loans through the Loan Assistance Repayment Program (LRAP). The eligibility requirements are as follows: (1) employed in a full-time law or law-related position with a nonprofit 501(c) 3 or 501(c) 4 organization; (2) earn an annual salary of $65,000 or less at time of initial application; (3) employed in current position for at least one year; and (4) owe a minimum of $80,000 in law school loans. Average awards are $7,600 for each approved application.
