What does LL.M. mean?
Master of Laws, which is a translation of the Latin term Legum Magister.
When were the School of Law's graduate programs established?
1978: LL.M. in Taxation, LL.M. in Comparative Law, General LL.M. with Concentration
1995: LL.M. in International Law
2000: LL.M. in Business and Corporate Law
How can an applicant request an application fee waiver?
An applicant may submit a written request for waiver of the $50.00 application fee along with the application. The writing must state the specific reasons for the request and will be reviewed once the application file is otherwise complete.
When will an applicant receive an admission decision?
The Graduate Programs Office uses a rolling admissions process. The Admissions Committee reviews completed files and makes admission decisions on a continual basis. Most applicants receive an admission decision within three weeks from the time their application file became complete.
What is the maximum number of credits an LL.M. student may take per semester?
Twelve credits, unless otherwise approved by the Graduate Programs Coordinator.
May admitted applicants defer their admission to an LL.M. program?
Admitted applicants may defer their admission one time, for up to one year. To defer, an applicant must submit a $200.00 non-refundable tuition deposit and a written request stating the semester to which they wish to defer.
When should LL.M. students contact the Career Services Office?
LL.M. students should contact the Career Services Office during fall or spring registration week, or no later than the first week of classes. By scheduling an initial 30-minute appointment with a career advisor, LL.M. students can be provided with an overview of the job search timeline and get information about how to register with the School of Law's online recruiting and job listing programs. Throughout their LL.M. programs, students are encouraged to regularly meet with an advisor for assistance with their job searches.
Are scholarships available to LL.M. students?
Merit Scholarships are available to incoming full-time LL.M. students. Externally funded scholarship programs are also an option for incoming students.
